Wayne started his racing career in 1987 in the Pure Stock division, at the Sportsdrome Speedway in New Albany, Indiana. In his very first year of racing, he accomplished what many drivers dream about by winning the division championship. The following year, finished third in points in the division and decided to advance to Super Stock Division at Salem Speedway in Salem, Indiana. In his rookie season, he started right where he left off by ending the year in 3rd place in points running only 75% of the races. In 1990, Wayne returned to the division with the goal to win the championship. At the end of that season, Edwards had won 70% of the
races and became the Super Stock Division
Champion. Returning to defend his title,
Edwards captured the 1991 Super Stock
Division championship for the second time
and became the fifth winningest driver in
Salem Speedway history, with names such
as A.J. Foyt and Mario Andretti. After
such a strong start in his racing career
Edwards has gone on to compete in
the AC Delco Challenge Series, Super
Truck series and Goody’s Dash Series
and in 2000 started competing in one
of the highest levels of NASCAR, the
Camping World Truck Series.
